Blessings everyone, praying that you are ready for the Summer with all of its busyness.  Here is a great way to start the Summer off on the right foot, Youth Explosion 2016 is here.  May 26th and 27th.  Our hearts and prayers are that our young people will be encouraged, empowered, and enable by the Presence of the Living God.  The theme this year is “OPPORTUNITY” EPHESIANS 5 : 16 “making the most of the opportunity, for the days are evil.”  Our guest speaker is Pastor Palemene Lauano and our guest worship Pastor is Matthew Malepeai.  This dynamic dual will also be teaching on “Worship and Leadership” Friday morning at 10am.  It is a free event to kick off the Summer right.  So, bring your youth group, and come ready to receive.  See you there and remember, JESUS loves you!

Greetings in the Precious and Mighty name of our Lord and Savior, JESUS.  Since being asked why we as Christians celebrate Christmas on December 25th? It is not in the Bible I was yelled at by someone who claimed to be a Christian…… So here are some thoughts just in case you are wondering.  Shout and be glad. I am coming and I will live among you (Zechariah 2:10).

Some of the Apostle Paul’s thoughts as he writes to the Church in Colossae, Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ. (Colossians 2:16–17).

As we continue our journey to the heart of Christmas, let’s pause for a moment to consider a common concern raised each year regarding the validity of celebrating Christ’s coming namely, that when Christmas was originally instituted, December 25 was a pagan festival commemorating the birthday of a false god.  In response we should first acknowledge that this is substantially true. As noted by Dr. Paul Maier, eminent professor of ancient history at Western Michigan University, “The Romans of the time not only celebrated their Saturnalia festival at the close of December, but they also thought that December 25 marked the date of the winter solstice (instead of December 21), when they observed the pagan feast of Sol Invictus, the Unconquerable Sun, which was just in the act of turning about to aim northward once again.” While this is indeed a historical fact, what is frequently overlooked is the reason the early Christian church chose December 25 as their day of celebration. The purpose was not to Christianize a time of pagan revelry, but to establish a rival celebration.

As such, Christmas (from Old English Crīstes +mœ ̄sse “Christ’s festival”) was designated as a spiritually edifying holiday (holy day) on which to proclaim the supremacy of the Son of God over superstitions concerning such gods as Saturn, the god of agriculture, and Sol Invictus, the unconquerable sun god.

While the world has all but forgotten the Greco-Roman gods of antiquity, it is annually reminded that two thousand years ago Christ, the hope of humanity, invaded time and space. But as Christians we perceive an even greater reality. Each year as we celebrate the First Advent of Christ, we are all together reminded of the Second Advent in which the old order of things will pass away and Christ our Lord will put all things to right. As the prophet Zechariah put it,  ‘Shout and be glad, O Daughter of Zion. For I am coming, and I will live among you,’ declares the LORD. ‘Many nations will be joined with the LORD in that day and will become my people. I will live among you and you will know that the Lord Almighty has sent me to you.’ (Zechariah 2:10–11). JESUS is the reason for the season, and everyone benefits from the birth of the Child King that changed everything.  “Now if you cannot celebrate this, what can you celebrate?”  Join us here at MCA Church on Christmas eve at 3:30pm – 5:30pm for Communion and Christmas day at 9:15 am and 11:15 am for a fun and powerful celebration of the Birth of our Lord JESUS.  Merry Christmas and have a blessed and joyous New Years.

Praise the Lord!  It’s that time of the year again, where people are preparing for Thanksgiving, Christmas shopping and fun times with the family as we celebrate the birth of the King of Kings, Jesus Christ our Lord….. We begin our preparation with our annual youth rally called, “Running on Ice 2015” with our theme, Good Reports.  In Numbers 13:30, 10 of the spies who went in to Jericho came with a negative report, but Caleb’s report was different.  He silenced and the people before Moses and said, “We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it.” In the Gospel according to Mark chapter 5:19, Legion wanted to follow Jesus after He freed him from the demons, but Jesus told him no, “go back to your home, and tell your friends the great things God has done for you.”  I know God has done something great for you and I, let’s bring our “Good Reports” and encourage our young people.  Our guest speaker is Great Life 310’s Executive Pastor, Moses Katina.  This is one speaker you don’t want to miss.  Our Worship Pastor is Matthew Malepeai with singers from our local youth groups, and this year we are also featuring Ms. Kuna Katina.  The Rallies are on Thursday and Friday November 5th & 6th, at 6:30 pm here at MCA Church 7041 Debarr Rd.  On Friday the 6th, we will have a Youth Leader’s training at 10 am – 12 noon.  We want to make sure that you know, this is a free event and would love for you to join us…. Blessings everyone, we would like to invite you to join us in celebrating White Sunday on October 11th at MCA CHURCH in our Central Campus 7041 Debarr Rd, Anchorage, AK 99504 at 1:30pm followed by lunch in our gymnasium.  White Sunday Celebration is the 2nd Sunday of October every year.  it’s the Sunday we honor and celebrate the life that God almighty have blessed our children with.  The children of MCA will minister through songs and scripture memorazation as well as the preaching of the Word of God by Mr. Demitri Tuia’ana and Ms. Kau’i Tali, and Worship will be lead by Ms. Melia Tali.  Our theme this year is “Because of Love.” John 3:17, God did not send his Son to condemn the world, but through him, the world might be saved.  God’s love is Global.  Bring the whole family and see you there.
